I’m Johannes — an Applied AI Scientist at JP/Politikens Media Group, where I develop responsible, large-scale recommender systems for news media. My work bridges academic research and real-world applications, combining expertise in A/B testing, MLOps, and the deployment of production-level AI systems.

I hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), completed in collaboration with JP/Politikens Media Group as part of the Platform Intelligence in News Project. I was also a visiting research scholar at the University of California San Diego (UCSD).

My research focuses on building responsible recommender systems that align with editorial and ethical values by integrating machine learning (ML) and normative design. As part of this work, I developed and deployed the first large-scale recommender systems for EkstraBladet.dk, now serving millions of users daily. I was fortunate to be supervised by Dr. Kasper Lindskow, Assoc. Prof. Michael R. Andersen, Assoc. Prof. Jes Frellsen, Prof. Lars Kai Hansen, and Prof. Julian McAuley.
